Music - A Part of Him
He released four albums between 1966 and 1967. Mostly contemporary 'beat' numbers that had already been successful in the hit parade for their creators, here conducted by Mr McCallum himself in an easy-listening but boppable mode fit to soundtrack those archetypal Sixties-movie scenes of people jiving in a nightclub.
My friend Paul had that single "Communication".
And he also pulled this LP out of a jumble sale or junkshop pile
I wish you could read the guff of the liner notes but I couldn't find a scan good enough.
He looks like a handsome seagull.
Yet all the vanity and folly of it was not for nothing in the end - you will recognise the intro here as a very famous sample to a very famous song by a very famous producer - which is still a radio staple here in LA.
David Axelrod was the arrangement co-pilot, you see - and the musicians were no doubt top of the line.
